In the summer of 2019 Gossman Group was engaged by Wilmington community partners, including Main Street Wilmington, Downtown Wilmington Community Improvement Corporation, City of Wilmington, and Clinton County Regional Planning Commission, to explore opportunities for enhancing the Sugartree Street Corridor. A unique opportunity for the community, Sugartree Street has been studied several times but the Gossman Group was tasked with identifying the key, catalytic private and public development opportunities that could create the sense of place sought by the community partners. Gossman Group developed the Sugartree Entertainment District as a logical outgrowth of the restaurant and bar development currently underway on the corridor as well as the historic entertainment and hospitality development on Main Street. The Entertainment District is an ideal location for Street Festivals, Outdoor Gathering for Entertainment, Gallery/PubCrawls, as well as day-to-day public use of outdoor plazas by pedestrians, bikers and walkers.
