Hired by the Downtown Newark Partnership to develop a vision for a 2 acre vacant site in the historic downtown adjacent to the courthouse, Gossman Group developed several design concepts for the site centered around providing a mix of uses with higher density housing. An important design consideration was the integration of the new construction into the context of the historic downtown and the 1878 courthouse. Gossman Group proposed four different housing prototypes to knit into the existing context and the concepts pay particular attention to how the buildings relate to the street and the adjacent land uses.
